ITINERARY
Day 1: Hobart (HD)On arrival at Hobart airport (flight not included) you will be met and transferred* to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore Tasmania’s historic, harbour city. Located a short walk from the hotel you will find Hobart’s renowned Salamanca Market. Take this opportunity to mix with the locals as you wander around the colourful stalls featuring local produce, arts and crafts (please note the market takes place between 8.30am and 3.00pm). This evening meet your Tour Director and fellow travellers for your welcome dinner.

Day 2: Hobart (FB)
Included SCENIC FREE CHOICE choose from: (1) Cruise to Peppermint Bay; or (2) Tour through beautiful Huon Valley; or (3) Guided historic walk and cruise. Must be booked before departure. Opportunity to substitute today’s touring (own expense) with: (1) A day in the Wilderness Tour; or (2) An Adventure Tour to Bruny Island.
Day 3: Hobart – Strahan (FB,D)
Travel to Mt Field National Park, one of Tasmania’s most popular National Parks. Stroll through lush rainforest to the stunning Russell Falls before continuing to Lake St Clair, Australia’s deepest natural freshwater lake. Continue to the copper mining town of Queenstown where you will board the Included famous West Coast Wilderness Railway for your journey through pristine forest to Strahan.

Day 4: Strahan (FB,L)
This morning board the Lady Jane Franklin II for your Included cruise through breathtaking World Heritage listed wilderness. Take in the views from your guaranteed window seat as you cruise breathtaking Macquarie Harbour to Hells Gate, where the harbour meets the ocean. Travel along the serene Gordon River and visit Heritage Landing for a guided walk through the rainforest amongst trees thousands of years old. Your journey continues with a visit to Sarah Island, where your expert guide will regale you with stories of the convicts’ lives on the island as you walk through the settlement ruins. This evening enjoy your Included performance by the local theatre group of the dramatic and true story of an amazing escape from Sarah Island in the tale of ‘The Ship That Never Was’.
Day 5: Strahan – Cradle Mountain (FB,D)
Depart Strahan and journey through rugged wilderness to the stunning alpine scenery of World Heritage listed Cradle Mountain – Lake St Clair National Park. Join your local guide as you travel to beautiful Dove Lake and visit Waldheim Chalet.

Day 6: Cradle Mountain – Smithton (FB,D)
Enjoy the scenic drive to Stanley, a quaint English village nestled at the foot of the towering volcanic core, ‘The Nut’. Visit the Included historic grazing property of Woolnorth and enjoy a guided tour of Tasmania’s largest wind farm. Stop at Cape Grim, situated on the tip of the rugged west coast.

Day 7: Smithton – Launceston (FB,HD)
This morning treat your taste buds with your Included visit to the delightful Anvers Chocolate Factory to sample and view the chocolate making process up close. Continue to the quaint town of Sheffield, where you will have some free time to explore the many spectacular street murals. This afternoon visit the Ashgrove Cheese Factory and learn how cheese is traditionally made from this nationally-acclaimed producer. Continue to Launceston to the famous Cataract Gorge Reserve and enjoy your Included ride on the world’s longest single span chairlift before exploring the wonderful scenery along the network of walking trails.

Day 9: Launceston – Bicheno (FB,D)
Your journey continues to Tasmania’s spectacular east coast. Visit Bridestowe Lavender Farm, the largest and oldest lavender plantation in the southern hemisphere (note: lavender is in bloom December and January only). Visit St Helens and continue to Freycinet National Park, noted for its spectacular coastal scenery of striking cliffs, sheltered bays and pristine beaches. This evening, enjoy your Included guided tour of a private fairy penguin colony and watch as they return from a day’s fishing (colony numbers may vary).

Day 10: Bicheno – Port Arthur (FB,D)
This morning travel to the Tasman Peninsula and stop to admire the spectacular geological rock formations, the Tasman Arch and Devil’s Kitchen, before heading to the Port Arthur Historic Site. Explore the ruins of this once notorious penal settlement with your expert guide on your Included walking tour and cruise around the harbour to witness the Isle of the Dead. Then continue to the Comfort Inn, the only hotel in the historic site overlooking the ruins.

Day 11: Port Arthur – Hobart (FB,HD)
This morning visit Richmond, Australia’s most delightful Georgian village. Continue to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary for your Included visit, where you will meet some of Tasmania’s native animals including Tasmanian devils. Then explore the Royal Tasmanian Botanic Gardens, Australia’s second oldest botanic garden. This evening bid farewell to newfound friends during your farewell dinner.
